Christian Book Expo - Dallas, March 20 - 22
Probably the biggest Christian author/public show in history will be held in Dallas from March 20 through March 22. It's called the Christian Book Expo. More than 200 authors will be there ready to meet their readers. There will be book signings, panel discussions, writing workshops, and much more.
I will be there for a couple of workshops and books signings, so I hope you'll come out and see me.
And best of all, it's free for people 17 and under!
So, if you live in the Dallas area, mark your calendars and come on out. Even if you don't live nearby, it might be worth making the journey. Just think, 200 authors in one place. I will definitely be walking around the building hoping to meet a bunch of people.

The Bones of Makaidos Release
AMG Publishers told me yesterday that April 1 will be the official release date for The Bones of Makaidos. I received the typeset version of the manuscript, which will the published version. It is 676 pages long, so it's ten percent bigger than Eye of the Oracle. I like the logo they chose to put on each page, but I'm not telling what it is. :-)
If you pre-ordered the book from me, I will send out your copy as soon as I get my supply, which will probably be a few days before April 1.
I hope you're looking forward to the release as much as I am.

Three Books in 2009
The new year is well underway. In 2009 I will have three new books hitting the shelves. As the day for each release draws close, I will give much more information about each book.
April - The Bones of Makaidos, the fourth and final book in the Oracles of Fire series
May - Nightmare's Edge, the third in the Echoes from the Edge trilogy
September - I Know Why the Angels Dance, a standalone novel for adults
All three books are complete and finished with the editing process, so I'm excited about seeing them come out.
I am now working on a new series for young adults. When I come up with a title and get well into the story, I'll tell everyone much more about it.

Getting on the Road Again
I am now in the process of planning speaking and signing appearances for the upcoming months. If you are interested in helping me set up visits to schools, homeschool groups, libraries, bookstores, etc in your area, please contact me at bryan (at) dragonsinourmidst (dot) com.
For starters, I want to visit groups in Florida at the end of February and in early March, the Dallas area around March 23, and Atlanta in early May. I am open to any area as long as I can get enough appearances.
I don't charge a fee, but it helps a lot with expenses if I am allowed to sell books.

The Bones of Makaidos and Other News
The Bones of Makaidos is now finished. I am very thankful that God has granted me strength to finish this book. It is over 198,000 words, making it significantly longer than Eye of the Oracle. It should be out in April. When I get a more precise date, I will announce it here.
I have reactivated my Facebook page. If you are on Facebook, please add me as a friend. Go to my profile by clicking here. I hope to conduct a launching party on Facebook for my next two books, so I need lots of friends.
I met with Zondervan yesterday. We had a planning session, and they want me to switch to another book idea I had, something other than Riders of the Apocalypse. I will eventually go back to write that book, but the next series will be something different, an idea I'm very excited about. I will give details later. I hope to start that book on Monday.
Any questions? Please comment, and I will try to answer.

Pray for Congress (Update 1/9)
Later this week, both houses of Congress will meet to count the electoral vote for president and decide whether or not to certify the result. In the past, this has been a rubber-stamp procedure, but this cycle, many people who understand the Constitution have appealed to members of Congress to object to the vote. Since Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen, he is not qualified under Article II of the Constitution to become president. His elections is illegitimate.
Congress has the authority to reject the electoral vote. What we need are Congressmen with a backbone to raise a point of order and object to Obama's eligibility. Will this happen? I think not without a miracle. Congress has proven many times that most members lack a backbone. That's why I ask you to pray that God will have mercy on this nation and move some members to stand up for what is right and defend the Constitution, as they have sworn to do.
If Congress refuses to do the right thing, then we will have a usurper in line to become the most powerful man in the world. The results will be catastrophic. Our only earthly hope, then, would be for the Supreme Court to step in and invalidate the election, another very unlikely move.
Although I am pessimistic about the courage of politicians to do the right thing, I have hope. We'll see what happens.
I hope you'll pray with me.
UPDATE
As I expected, Congress certified the vote without opposition, proving that not a single Congressman is willing to keep his oath of office.
Unless the Supreme Court intervenes, we will soon have a usurper controlling the executive branch of our government, thus invalidating it as a legitimate authority. God help us all.

Happy New Year?
I arose early this morning to work on The Bones of Makaidos and realized that it was now 2009. I am not one to stay up late or go to parties, so the dropping of the ball in Times Square is something I rarely see. I don't make resolutions, and I don't write down goals or expectations. I am such a pragmatist, it makes more sense to plan on a daily basis as life changes rather than to pick a particular day and make a contrived list that won't last.
Does that sound like a New Year's version of Ebenezer Scrooge? Maybe so. It's still pitch black outside this morning, and the figurative storm clouds I see on the horizon might be darkening my perspective, so please forgive the "Bah! Humbug!" grumbling.
Yet, the storm clouds are very real. If Barack Obama becomes president (no, it's not certain yet), I believe the next year or two could bring about the most significant and most damaging changes this country has experienced in its history. Christians, especially, will suffer.
I won't go into detail yet. I'm hoping for a miracle that will expose Obama for the evil fraud that he is, and he won't be sworn into office. If that miracle doesn't occur, maybe I'll post my dark forecast in detail. We'll see.
Although in the coming year Christians could suffer losses in a temporal sense, and we might suffer greatly here on earth, we will never lose hope. God will ultimately triumph, and all His enemies, should they refuse to repent, will be destroyed. And God's children, His holy ones who do not bow down to the idols of this world, will be taken up to glory.
Hmmm... It seems that dawn is breaking. Maybe it won't be such a bad year after all.
