Coming Soon

What's coming up for readers of my books? First, arriving in September, is I Know Why the Angels Dance. This is a contemporary novel for adults. No fantasy this time, though there are supernatural elements involved. When I have a cover image available and I receive some reviews from pre-publication readers, I will tell you more about it.

I wrote this book about 13 years ago. I love the story, so I polished it thoroughly and asked AMG Publishers to publish it. They also loved it, so it's on its way.

This book is so different from what I usually write, and it is so strong in spiritual content, I decided to give it completely to God, meaning that I am donating all royalties to Christian charitable causes. If God wants a lot of money pumped into the ministries I have chosen, maybe He will make it sell millions of copies. We'll see.

I am also writing a dual-threaded series for Zondervan, that is, one series for adults and one for young adults, both taking place in the same story world. The first young adult book is called Starlighter, book one in the Dragons of Starlight series. It's finished and should come out in the spring of 2010.

The adult book has a working title of Masters and Slayers, but that title will likely change. We also don't know what the adult series will be called. That book should come out in the fall of 2010. As of now, we have planned four books in the young adult series and two in the adult series.

Readers of either series will get a full story, and readers of both series will get two unique stories and gain background for both.

Many people have asked me about a continuation of Dragons in our Midst and Oracles of Fire. As readers of The Bones of Makaidos know, I left a tiny door open in that story, giving a hint to the possibility of a continuation. I am making tentative plans to go through that door and write a new series, but I don't know when. I will certainly make an announcement here if/when it happens.

I saw a cover for "I Know Why the Angels Dance" on amazon.ca
Is that a tentative cover, a different cover, or what? (Since you said you would post here when you have a cover)
Thanks ^-^

Will the pre-production books look different from the actual release books (have you got them yet)?
It sounds like you have been *really* busy, what with writing your other series' and promoting "I Know Why the Angels Dance."

I have a few questions for you Mr. Davis.

In your books ( Dragons in Our Midst and Oracles of Fire) is it true that the "dragon messiah" had to do his work to let dragons and antrothrozils be able to get to heaven? Or did the dragon messiah simply free the Dragons from Dragons Rest?

Sorry if I am bugging you, I understand you are busy, I was just curious!! You are a great author and sometimes I think, " How in the world did he think of all this???" I haven't read Bones of Makaidos yet... I own it though...

Ok, here's another question: Are Masters and Slayers and Starlighter the same book, one dealing with matters for adults and one for children? OK that's all!!

Joraeim,

Billy's role as the dragon's messiah was to get them out of Dragons' Rest so that they could come to the human messiah, Jesus. That's what I hoped to show in Eye of the Oracle, where they had to pass through the covenant veil with Jehovah Yasha as their covenant, The Lord is my savior.

Starlighter is the first book in the young adult series, and Masters and Slayers (tentative title) is the first book in the adult series. They are different books with different stories, both in the same story realm. I wouldn't say either one if for children. The young adult book is for teenagers, and I suspect that teens will also read the adult book.

do you have a website for dragons of starlight yet, oh and are the movies going to be as long as the lord of the rings movies
P.S. What year do you think the movies will be released.

Bryan Davis said...

I don't have a website for the new series yet. It's still several months away.

I don't know how long the movie will be, and we won't have a release schedule until we secure the funding and go into production.

hamstertrail, if you haven't read Dragons in our Midst or Oracles of Fire, you should start with Dragons in our midst, read those four books, and then read the four Oracles of Fire books.

i have a question mr. Davis. is Beyond The Reflection's Edge tied together with a differ series of books you wrote? in the very beginning I wondered if i was starting in a middle of a series. (P.S. there should be a movie for BTRE, its a good book! :) )

Bryan Davis said...

Anonymous, Beyond the Reflection's Edge is the first of the three-book Echoes from the Edge series and is not associated with any other series.

Hey! I met you at a book signing in Texas...my brother drew you a picture of bonnie finding some dragon eggs... even though dragons are mammals! ;)

Bryan Davis said...

Mr. Davis, I sooooo love the "Dragons in our mist" and the "Oracles of Fire" series. My brother got me into them, and I am glad he did, though i had to wait 6 months for the 4th book of the first one and he forgot i wanted the others, so i got them before i went insain trying to figure out if bonnie kept her wings. Thanks for a great role model in the form of Bonnie, Ashly, and Karen.

i have noticed that you like to tie prophecy and a different world into your books do you plan to do that with the dragons of starlight series

Bryan Davis said...

Joshua, Dragons of Starlighter will take place on other worlds and have prophecies as an integral part of the story.
