Warrior is Coming

In less than two months, Warrior, the sequel to the bestselling novel Starlighter, will be released. Look for it in January of 2011.

In Warrior, the stakes are raised when the foretold prince is crowned. While Koren and Jason race to the Northlands of Starlight to find the one person who can help them free the human slaves, Elyssa and Wallace strive to locate Jason and assist his quest. Soon, all four discover that the secrets of Starlight extend much further than they had imagined. Meanwhile, Randall and Tibalt have returned to Major Four and find themselves teamed with the dragon Magnar, who has arrived to thwart the governor.

No one knows how the prophecy will be fulfilled, but one thing is clear: more than ever, the survival of the dragons depends on humankind, and they will do anything to prevent the slaves from escaping.

I just finished reading Starlighter and i'm hooked! :)

I seem to have a habit of finding book series that are not done or I accidentally start in the middle!

So I'm happy I got the FIRST book, and pleased that I won't have to wait long for the next one to come out!!!

I am sooooo excited to read it! loved Starlighter and the Dragons in our Midst series!although I think Jason should like Elyssa instead of Koren:)

Elyssa instead of Koren? Hmmm ...

Holy Cow! I am dying for Warrior. I just finished Starlighter, and you did a wonderful job! I must say, I was a little disappointed with the ending. Throughout the book, it was intense. My fingers couldn't work fast enough! But,then you just kind of dropped from the story flow and crammed everything awkwardly into the last few pages. Obviously, I get that you want to keep your readers in suspense for Warrior, but I felt like you skipped right through the part with Elyssa and the slaves. I mean, not to be rude or anything, but you didn't quite explain how Arxad carried them to a safer place. That's my only complaint! Other than that, my eyes were glued to the pages. Keep up the good work!

Sasha,

I'm glad you enjoyed Starlighter. I don't consider your comments to be rude.

I, as you might expect, disagree with the criticisms. Otherwise, I wouldn't have written it the way I did. :-)

After the climactic scenes, it's important to get to the resolution without tedious details. In the parts you mentioned that I skipped, nothing significant occurred, and I provided enough information to let the reader know what happened.

Since I showed Arxad carrying the egg in the bag under his claws, a reader can assume that Jason and Koren rode on Arxad's back, especially considering that Arxad had already carried two humans on his back earlier in the story.

I think I provided all the reader needed to know, and I didn't want to drag the resolution out. I wish it would have worked for you, but every reader has different tastes.

I hope you enjoy Warrior!

All right, thank you for clearing that up for me! I see how it would be worthless to add paragraph after paragraph just to end it like you did. I definitely don't mean to criticize your work because your novel was very well written, and it flowed throughout the pages nicely.

If not only a few years ago, I had trouble reading. Books were nothing of my interest. It only seemed to be blank words on a piece of paper. In fact, it was bad enough that I was not able to read and comprehend it. Then, someone came along and just, literally, taught me how to read. I've loved books and writing ever since. This is slightly off topic, but I was wondering, do you have any useful tips for an up-and-coming writer? It would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Oh, and again, thank you! I'm positive I'll fall in love with Warrior. I'm itching to get my fingers on it, for sure!

Sasha,

I teach all-day seminars, so it would be difficult to give you all the tips I have.

The main tip I can give here is to learn the craft of writing. Check out books from the library on how to write better. Get people who know writing to read your writing and give you pointers. Practice all you can. Study writing that you enjoy and figure out what makes it so good. Also, have patience with your writing. Don't try to hurry it. Take your time to build scenes and characters.

Mr. Davis,
Thank you so much for writing these Dragons in our Midst, Oracles of Fire, and Starlighter books! I started reading the Dragons in our Midst books several years ago and completely fell in love with them. Just recently, I finished "Warrior" and I absolutely enjoyed it. I actually liked it even better than the first starlighter book. My question is, when is Diviner coming out? You left all your readers in such suspence its destroying me. :)

My friends and I agree that out of all the many books we've read, you're our favorite author. I love the adventure, thrill, message, and little sparks of romance. I enjoy every bit of your books, Mr. Davis!

Thank you again!
