Weather

Dear Friends in the Northern Lands,

It's December 2, 2006, and my air conditioner came on this morning. The agony!

I read about all the snow in the Midwest and the cold rain and snow that are coming to the East, so I thought I'd write this and tell you about our suffering here in Florida. It was 85 degrees yesterday, and it's going to break 80 again today. Do you realize what this is going to do to my electric bill? That air conditioner won't stop running!

Not only that, these strange people are beginning to show up at the stores--shivering souls with pasty white skin buying lots of sunscreen and floppy hats. It's kind of scary, but it seems to happen every year about this time. They finally go away sometime in April when their skin is so red they look like ripe strawberries. It's almost like they come here as unripened fruit, with white skin and green money, then leave with red skin and no money left, ripe and plucked. But that's okay. It helps our economy.

I've stalled enough. I have to get to work. But first I have to get some lemonade or freshly squeezed orange juice and turn on my fan.

Ah, Mr. Davis, stop torturing us!! =D

I'm kidding.

I'm sure you heard about the winter storm this week up here in Washington. Most of the snow and ice is melted by now (though there was a little bit of ice on the roads last night.) Our house still has snow on the ground, though its in the form of a frozen slush.

Congratulations on the warm... nay, hot weather there. =D And 'tis hot for us.

Bryan, I feel your pain. HA!! We're hoping for a white Christmas here in NJ.

Oh, my parents will be showing up in Jan. with their white skin and green money. It's funny to hear them complain how cold it is when the temp in FL drops to 60* and it's 25* here up North.

Happy writing!

Thanks for sharing your agony! We're currently in the midst of our first major snow storm! The kids are delighted. We've got about 4 inches and it's still coming down! Merry Christmas!

I live at 5000 feet in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California. Cold now, but no snow yet. Sad.

Christmas joy to you!

85 degrees? Yikes! That is why I will never live in Florida or California, they are too hot for me! I prefer the cold weather. Althought it's now, finally, starting to get as cold as it should be in December (as in...between 20 and 30 degrees) I still prefer it to the summer heat.

We don't have any snow here in Virginia yet, but it's definitely cold :D

Happy writing! Hehe, Mrs. Paul is also struggling to crank out her next book. I'll be praying for you, Mr. Davis!!
