The Bones of Makaidos Reviews

Reviews of The Bones of Makaidos are starting to trickle in from pre-publication readers. I'll post them here as they come in.

It is fitting for the last book in the Oracles of Fire to be the best. The Bones of Makaidos captured me from the very beginning. Bryan Davis's ability to vividly depict scenes is at it's best in the final installment of his best selling fantasy series. You will not be able to put the book down!

Grant Miller- age 15

This book is amazing. Words can't describe. I've cried more in this book than the other 7 put together - some were tears of sadness, but most have been tears of joy. Each time you read it it'll be just as powerful as the first time, if not more. It was really cool discovering what an oracle of fire really is, and why Bonnie's last name is Silver. All loose ends will be tied, and when you read the last page, you'll be left with a sense of satisfaction, a sense of peace that's hard to describe.

Connie Wolters - age 27

Beloved characters, both new and old, grace the pages of this tale and beckon you to enter their world one last time as they fight against the growing darkness around them. With hopelessness knocking at the doors of their hearts, the characters must trust in God to see them through and must learn that love never fails. The tapestry masterfully woven is finally complete and when you finish the last page, you will rejoice at seeing the characters you have known, perhaps for years, find their rest at the end of their long journey. But is it really the end?

Anne K. Riley - age: 19

It sounds even better than it already did, if that's possible.

Mr. Davis,
I was just wondering, are you planning to have your books made into movies? I heard some rumors that perhaps they were making a movie and it made me REALLY curious.

Oh my! When are they due to come out?
I almost can't wait, but I am pretty patient ^-^

Just like everybody else, I am so excited. I have to ask-
Do you ever get yourself confused, Mr Davis, when you are writing a book as complex as the Echoes from the Edge series is? I certaintly would. I am writing a novel and am starting soon. But my goal is to make it as interesting as your books are!

Glorywings, I don't get confused. I make notes as I write, so that helps.

Thank you for the kind words.

Dear Readers,
Sorry to bother you but this has nothing to do with TBOM.
I'm going off my rocker trying to figure out the end of the 'fish who loved to play golf' joke. I'm one of those people who hasn't known about DIOM for very long, and I am just now going over the older posts.
I tried to go to a link that someone gave for the end of the joke, but it didn't work! *rips out hair by the roots* I'm going crazy trying to figure out the joke! I don't care how awful it is! Could somebody PLEASE tell me! *falls to knees in begging posture* Preferably BEFORE I go insane! Thanks

Anonymous, you know not what you ask. Is your medical insurance up to date? Is a friend nearby who can call for help?

I hesitate to do this because I don't want to be accused of causing illness or insanity, but, you have been warned.

Here is the rest of the joke:

After the fish flopped up on the green, he saw four golfers getting
ready to putt, so he said to one of them, "I'll bet you I can make that putt."

So the fish tried to grab the putter, but the golfer snatched him up and hung him from the golf bag, glad to have dinner for the night and a funny story to tell when he got home.

After a while, though, the fish started drying out and cried pitifully, "I'm drying! I'm drying!" The golfer felt bad for the fish and tossed him back in the pond.

"Why did you let him go?" one of the other golfers asked.

The first golfer shrugged his shoulders and replied, "I decided I have bigger fish to dry."

Oh, ugh!
My curiosity is satisfied but now I need medical attention!!! *gags and falls on the floor*
So where did you get that *ahem* joke? ;)

Bryan Davis said...

I made it up. Now you know why the rest of it wasn't in the book.

Walter thought it was funny.

I can't wait till it comes out. Its just sounding better and better!!

Yeah,
I'm not surprised that Walter liked it, I love his personality by the way, and I don't think the joke is really bad enough to die over! ;) Me and my sister had been pulling our hair our each time Walter tried to tell the joke and they wouldn't let him! What a great way to end the book, by him finally telling the joke! Super idea.
Okay, just another quick random question; So did you use your idea for 'fluorescent ideas' in TBoM?
Thanks!
-Brittany

Brittany,

I used "fluorescent" in Nightmare's Edge. It was slightly different from what I posted in the blog, but I think it worked well.
